Happy Thursday, my friends! I’m so sorry to have just abandoned you last week, but I promise, it was for a good cause – I was traveling for my cousin’s wedding and we were getting everything settled to close on our new home! (Full details on that coming soon, promise!)
For now, let’s jump right into the Thrift Score Thursday celebration, because I had a super fun find lined up to share last week…
My Find:
I am sad to be leaving the Arlington, Texas thrifting scene, because I feel like I’ve finally found my groove there. I have my little circuit that I like to visit – I’m basically on autopilot, traveling from store to store – and I’ve gotten to know certain employees.
At one of my favorites, Texas Thrift Store, there’s the sweetest older gentleman who works there who always keeps an eye out for me, especially if there’s something good behind the counters (jewelry and nicer things get locked up in glass cases.)
So the other week, as soon as I walked in, he asked if I would like to see anything in the jewelry case, so I took a quick look and my eyes lit up as soon as I spotted this little box with a jumble of gold inside.
“I knew you would want to see that one!”
You guys… Gold animal charms! On a necklace, bracelet, and matching enormous earrings! You all know how far my love for brass animals extends. To find them in jewelry format was practically destiny! Penguins, gold fish, horses, lions, bunnies (to name just a few)… YES. All the yes!
The clincher: “You’re gonna look like Cleopatra when you wear these!”
Hey guys, remember Cleopatra, back from Thrift Score Thursday 75?
So you see, I had to buy this necklace for her! The bracelet and huge earrings were just a bonus, really.
These are a good four inches long, at least. I’m definitely not planning on using them as earrings, but I am thinking they could be incorporated into some fab tassels in the future!
Too fun, right?! I realize this crazy necklace won’t be everyone’s jam, but it totally makes me smile!
Plus, my kindly friend got me a 30% off coupon for donating some things, so it was really totally almost absolutely fate that I make the purchase. For Cleopatra…
The Features:
I was not alone in my good hunting last week! You guys rocked the #thriftscorethursday tag on Instagram as usual!
I know this is going to sound so “hipster” of me, but it’s true – I’ve been a fan of color-coordinated books since waaaaaaay back! So I’m loving this mantel display from Haneen (@haneens_haven)! All those greens and blues are so lovely! I’ll repeat… never skip the book section!

Our new home has a raised counter in this kitchen perfect for pulling up a few bar stools. I dream of finding some like these brass beautiful from Raphael (@thebeauideal)!

I am so drawn to this unusual blue and white Chinoiserie pottery collection @thekoicurator shared! I have no idea what they are, but this is such a good reminder of the power of groupings! Alone on a shelf, I might not think twice if I spotted one of these animal characters, but they’re so interesting as an ensemble!

Let me tell you, I am oozing with jealousy over this nautical flag Melissa (@melissabrandman) found at her local Goodwill! I actually had to stop for a moment, because I made a nautical flag banner last summer and I didn’t recognize this design. Fun fact: it turns out, this flag signifies the number five.
I can’t stop thinking about how I have the perfect place to hang it in our new place and how much I hope I find one of my own one day!

Another thrift find I found myself totally drawn to – this handmade ceramic plate with a face found by Heili (@hkhd). I was just at my grandmother’s house and noticed all her beautiful ceramic hangings (which of course have been there for ages, but I never truly appreciate them before), so they are fresh on my mind. This one is so cool!

Lastly, let’s wrap up with this space from Gloria (@gloriajoy), because it’s such a beautiful example of the way thrifted finds can seamlessly integrate into an absolutely stunning room design! Just gorgeous!

That necklace, all those little animals are like a wind fall of fun. I love the idea for using the earrings to make a tassel. And as long as we are talking awesome animals that Chinoiserie pottery collection from @thekoicurator is so cool! Everyone out there has me so jealous of their finds.
oh my goodness! i love those animals so much- the earrings are going to be so great repurposed!
look at that necklace! fabulous! It’s like a charm bracelet for your neck!
I must say Cleopatra is a stunner especially with such a fun statement necklace! My love for brass animals is pretty up there so I totally get it. As always I’m in awe {and a little jealous} of the feature finds, but that last pic from gloriajoy that showcases my favorite stools have stolen my heart, I must go follow her immediately!
Those charmed are absolutely amazing! I love that you’ve built up relationships with the thrift stores in your area. I have too! A set of midcentury style chairs came into my local store and the owner hid them until I came in. The perks of being an intense thrifter! Thanks for sharing 🙂
