Hey fellow thrift-lovers! What is up?
My answer: quite a lot over here.
This is the 133rd week of Thrift Score Thursday, the Instagram hashtag/blog party centered around thrifted and secondhand finds I run with several blogging friends. It has come a long, long way over the last few years. That being said, I feel a bit of change coming on…
My Thrift Score Thursday cohosts and I have been thinking and talking and we have decided to take a break next week while we dig deep and ponder a few exciting changes. So there won’t be a post next Thursday, but while we’re brain storming, we would love to hear your thoughts on Thrift Score Thursday as well – leave a comment, send me an email, light a signal fire… Your feedback is invaluable, because you guys are the whole reason this series even exists!
My Find:
Earlier this week, I shared a little furniture shuffling that happened in our front room (aka “the library”)…
I already shared this brass drum table and malachite trinket dish for previous Thrift Score Thursday posts, but I recently found this incredible, giant Chinese calligraphy brush that got added to the mix.
The wood handle has a beautiful embossed floral pattern, and the brush part alone (made of some animal’s fur) is a good five inches long.
I might not have thought twice about this when I spotted it at the thrift store if I hadn’t seen this post from Pam at Simple Details that first introduced me to Chinese calligraphy brushes. Apparently, they can be quite collectible! I found mine for $5, but I saw vintage ones on eBay or Etsy listed anywhere from $30 – $90.

The Features:
Combing through the #thriftscorethursday feed on Instagram, it’s so fun to see all the finds and so hard to choose just a few to feature!
This Mid Century brass candelabra Nicole (@sweet_domicile) found jumped out at me, especially because of those awesome blue candles she used. What a striking display!

I’ve had a deep and abiding love for antique wardrobes ever since first watching the 1988 TV miniseries of The Lion, The Witch, & The Wardrobe. One of these days, I will convince Bryan that we need to drag one of these giant treasure home, but until then I’ll settle for admiring beauties like this one Amy (@uncommon_patina) shared in her eclectic living room.

Jo (@jmwearing) found the kind of art most people only dream of finding at a thrift store – this incredible abstract painting! I love its restrained color palette and all that texture – her vignette skills are to die for as well.

Speaking of enviable vignettes, check out this shot from Carli (@fwmadebycarli) featuring her two favorite thrift finds – the rattan chair and campaign chest.

Finally, lets wrap up with this share from @shop_echo that still has my jaw on the ground. The art! The textiles! The collected pieces! I feel a black wall coming up in my future…
