Hello friends! There’s less than two weeks until Christmas and I just can’t wait! There are cookies and candies to make, gifts to nail down… and there’s a super secret back-breaking DIY to occupy all my spare time!
Luckily, I have a perfect go-to gifting formula that I’m going to share with you today – and I almost guarantee that you can find a way to adapt these ideas to anyone on your Christmas list! If you haven’t already found the perfect coloring book for them, that is! 😉

Do you remember last year’s Ultimate Snow Day Gift Guide?
The inspiration was simple: I freaking love snow days.
We rarely get them here in Texas (it was 70 degrees yesterday), but when we do, I revel in the magical, blanketed world and enjoy a hibernation day inside!
(Okay, to really tell the truth, I hibernate inside for most of the winter anyway, because sub-50-degree temperatures just aren’t my cup of tea, unless I’m sitting by a fire and wrapped in a blanket!
And really, it doesn’t even need to be actually snowing for me to enjoy the rituals of a good snow day – curling up with a good book and enjoying a few treats.)
It struck me that my beloved snow day obsession just might make the perfect starting point for a Christmas gift guide – pairing favorite reads with themed accompaniments to create a “Snow Day in a Box Kit”!
Because who wouldn’t love a gift that invites you to lounge, unwind, a pamper yourself a little? It’s what a snow day is all about!

The essential accompaniment to any of these gifts: Treat Yo Self card via HaveaNiceDayy
Treat Yo Self! Whether “Yo Self” is you, or a friend, this is a judgment-free zone!
I had so much fun pulling together last year’s Snow Day Gift Guide that I decided to continue with the theme this year and share some more fun combos!
The Ultimate Snow Day Gift Guide Part 2
While I’ve come up with six little collections for you to peruse, they can also function as sounding boards for your imagination! Mix and match, or take the general idea and switch out your favorite read, drink, accessory, etc.
The main idea to pick a lovely book, and then think, “What goes well with this? What sets the mood? Enhances the experience?”
If that sounds a lot like choosing a wine pairing to you… Then maybe you could throw in a bottle of your favorite as well!
Sweet & Stylish:
Domino: Your Guide to a Stylish Home // This book is definitely on my own Christmas wishlist! I loved the first one oh-so-very much, and I have no doubt the second is every bit as full of stunning visual inspiration! Plus, the covers are just pretty enough to frame – my go-to for coffee table styling. (P.S. I just found out there’s a stunning boxed set of both books.)
Copper Pineapple Cup // Isn’t this the most insanely stylish tumbler you’ve ever seen in your entire life? It’s the epitome of all the best trends of 2016 – copper + gold + pineapple. If you’re not sipping from this vessel while flipping the pages of your favor decor digest, you just might be doing it wrong!
Mini Capri Blue Candle // Hands down, this has to be one of my favorite gifts ever. I just don’t think it’s possible to go wrong with a beautiful little candle! It’s every bit as much a piece of lovely decor as it is a delightful and functional present.
Le Petit Prince:
The Little Prince // Shortly before we began dating, Bryan lent me his copy of The Little Prince, and I have to admit, I definitely found myself falling for him as I read it! It’s one of those classic little books that everyone seems to have heard of, but not many have actually read. It’s a beautifully simple yet powerful tale of love, meaning, and trying to figure out this crazy world… I can’t recommend it highly enough!
Knit Fox Cup Cozy // Since a fox plays a pivotal role within the story, I thought this adorable knitted cup cozy was a natural pairing! And if you prefer to DIY, rather than buy, I found a tutorial for making your own as well.
Harney & Sons Paris Tea Tin // And what goes inside the cup, kept warm by the fox cozy? Of course, you could include whatever beverage your intended recipient prefers, but I though this sweet little tin of Parisian tea was a perfect nod to the book’s French authorship!
What Would Wes Anderson Do?
The Wes Anderson Collection // By now, I’m sure you’re no stranger to my love of the director Wes Anderson, which extends to channeling inspiration from his films into my decor. (Exhibit A. Exhibit B.) Naturally, this book is extremely high on my wishlist, along with the gorgeous sequel focused on The Grand Budapest Hotel. Whimsical, artsy and extremely hipster… You know the friend this fits, I’m sure!
Popcornopolis Zebra Popcorn // As this gift is film-themed, I think popcorn is a natural accoutrement! But no ordinary popcorn, oh no – what would Wes Anderson do? Pick something fun, vibrant, and chocolate drizzled, with old-fashioned graphics and a restrained color palette, perhaps?
‘Pecan Pie’ Snow Day Candle // Another deliciously scented candle, this time in an adorable tin (that feels like it could have been painted by Richie Tenenbaum). The fact that this one is actually called “Snow Day” totally sealed the deal for me!
Read Aloud:
BabyLit Books // I always love to include some ideas for the little ones in these guides, because children’s books are always so much fun! I stumbled across these gorgeous board books based on classic literature and I was smitten! There are so many more to choose from than those pictured, but how can you go wrong with Alice in Wonderland, Little Women, or The Secret Garden?
Moonstruck Classic Hot Cocoa // Hot chocolate is the ultimate winter-time treat, in my book! I love this brand because you make it with milk, not water, and it always tastes like marshmallows to me. And as a sucker for beautiful packaging, the tin design wins me over as well!
Pink-Striped Marshmallows // And speaking of marshmallows, aren’t these pink-striped marshmallows the cutest thing ever?! You could always pick up a pack of mini marshmallows from the grocery store, but I though the surprising colors and shapes of these made for an extra-fun gift.
Whiskey Makes The World Go Round:
The Discworld Series by Terry Pratchett // I have read the entire “Discworld” series by British author Terry Pratchett multiple times. As soon as I finish, I read them again in a different order! He’s created such a brilliant, humorous, alternate fantasy world (which, by the way, is a flat disc soaring through space on the back of a turtle), that I just can’t stop. sometimes biting satire, sometimes pure parody, always such fun. For those brand new to the Discworld, I recommend starting with Guards! Guards! (which kicks off my favorite characters’ storylines) or The Colour of Magic (the first he wrote in the series).
Hot Toddy Diagram Glassware // I can’t think of anything more perfect to accompany this reading adventure than a hot toddy (hot water + honey + whiskey + lemon), and these diagrammed mugs from Uncommon Goods are the perfect blend of humor and helpfulness.
Floral Honeystix // You could include one of those handy and ubiquitous honey bears that sit on the shelf at your grocery store, but I found these wildflower honey single-serving sticks that just seemed perfect for gift-giving!
Party Like It’s…
Tequila Mockingbird: Cocktails with a Literary Twist // Well, the year in which we’re pretending to party really depends on which cocktail you want to whip up. Is it the 1930’s, with the book’s signature “Tequila Mockingbird”? Or 1813, with the “Rye and Prejudice”? Or are you feeling a little dystopian future, with a “Brave New Swirled?” This book is worth picking up for the punny cocktail names alone! You might also enjoy the same author’s film-themed collection, Gone with the Gin – I lost it over “Indiana Jones and the Shirley Temple of Doom”!
Mr. and Mrs. Cocktail Glass Set // Classy cocktails need classy glassware, and you know I’m madly in love with anything gold and shiny! I’m loving this “Mr. and Mrs.” lowball set from Furbish, but I also heartily support thrifting some chic vintage barware, or hunting some down on Etsy.
Yay! Cocktail Napkins // Throw in a pack of celebratory gold-foil cocktail napkins, and it’s a party! Paper Source has tons of adorable, affordable choices – I also love these.
Do you also love giving and receiving books as gifts? What books are on your wish-list, or which are you particularly enjoying these days?
