Hey there awesome people! How’s it going?
I apologize for going radio silent for the last week – I’ve been sick and practically super-glued to the couch, but I think (hope!) I’m on the mend. At the very least, I’ve been snacking on enough Dayquil to make sure I don’t miss our weekly party.
The Facts:
You can join in by sharing a picture of any recent thrifty find on Instagram using #thriftscorethursday!
- You can share any thrifty finds with us – whether they hail from a thrift store, Craigslist, estate sale, garage sale, side of the road, or apartment dumpster! The fun, the funny, the awesome, the odd – this hashtag party is open to all!
- Feel free to use #thriftscorethursday any day of the week! We’ll be keeping up with the hashtag all week long to find our favorites for the following Thursday.
- Each week, Trisha from Black and White Obsession, Cassie from Primitive and Proper, Corinna from A Designer At Home and I (plus a special weekly guest host!) will pick a few favorite thrift scores to feature! So please note that by linking up with#thriftscorethursday, you are giving us permission to share your finds via social media or on our blogs.
- We can only see photos shared by public accounts, so if you have a private Instagram account and we haven’t been showering your finds with love, it’s simply because we aren’t able to see them.
The Features:
Last week was Thrift Score Thursday: Halloween Edition Part 1 – the biggest party we’ve had so far with ten hosts total! Each host shared some thrifted Halloween inspiration – from fun costumes to creepy “catch and release” finds to holiday decorations – and we asked YOU to share your own Halloween-themed finds.
So today, I’m excited to share some awesome thrifted Halloween features!
First up is this adorably flexible skeleton @mariaski63 found out thrifting! I love his pose!
Shelley (@meowradio) shared a skeleton thrift find as well – and he’s pink!
This thrifted jack-o’-lantern got a glam makeover from @makinmyaptahome with some gold spray paint, proving once again that everything is better in gold!
What do you do with a baby scale from 1947 found at a yard sale for $5? Plop a pumpkin on top, of course, just like Carrie (@lovelyetc) did!
What a spooky yet beautiful vignette Channel (@hobnailsalvagedgoods) shared! The raven actually began life as a headband and she converted it to wall decor!
Karrie Anne (@heykarrieanne) doesn’t have a fireplace mantel, so she decorates her piano instead! You guys know I love glass containers – this jar (and the mirror) were thrift scores!
I have a weakness for thrifted costumes (see some of mine right here)! Hayley (@hudginsathome) pulled together a fantastic Amelia Earhart costume!
Everything was thrifted for this, except the aviator cap, which my dad made with an old baseball cap and leather scraps.
Finally, let’s wrap up with one of the cutest #thriftscorethursday submissions ever. Sandra (@vintaushop) shared this picture of her daughter in a vintage ballerina outfit, found for just $4! Sunshine in a snapshot, right here!
My Finds
I’ve been doing a ton of decluttering, cleaning, organizing, and purging around the house lately, so I’ve been on my bestest-of-best behavior when it comes to bringing home thrift finds that I love but don’t need.
That means – you guessed it – it’s time for another round of “Things I Didn’t Buy At The Thrift Store”!
Lamp Edition.
You guys, I was this close to buying these. I love their shape and the wood finish is pretty sweet, but it’s also a blank canvas for trying out some new paint techniques that I learned at the Amy Howard at Home workshop…
I gave them a careful inspection though, and noticed that one of the cords had been patched up with electrical tape, meaning it would need to be rewired. That’s not really a big deal, for a lamp I love, but in this case it was just enough to make me leave them on the shelf for someone else.
This Mid-Century lamp such a great shape and beautiful gradient glaze… Wait, why didn’t I buy this again?!
We all know cactus is having a bit of a “moment” lately, right? So of course I was super tempted by this ENORMOUS cactus lamp. It was almost three feet tall and felt like it was made of solid concrete – decorative, and great for self defense! Seriously, it could be absolutely incredible in a glossy new color (although I would probably go with white). I went back and it was still there… But I shall resist.
What about you? Any cool new finds you did or didn’t bring home? Share with the group!

Nicole from Design It Vintage has been guest hosting with us for all the Halloween fun!
Be sure to check out the finds and features from Cassie, Corinna & Trisha!
P.S. Are you a blogger who also love thrifty finds? We’d love to have you join us for a week of Thrift Score Thursday! If you’re interested, send me a message!
Great lamps! Love those wood ones.
i featured that amelia earhart, too! loved it! i definitely somehow missed a couple of these!
Love that blue and green lamp
You were very strong about the cactus lamp! (of course, looks like you’d also have to be very strong to carry that big thing home ;))
Yeah, i have to be honest. Im disappointed you didn’t buy the mid century lamp. That thing is perfection.
You finally found a pair of lamps!!! 🙂
Dude those lamps, pretty spectacular! Of course when you’re not looking for lamps, they have all the good ones!
