Happy Thursday, everyone! Has this last week just flown by at warp speed for you guys too? It seems like I blinked (and worked nearly every waking moment on some recent projects) and suddenly it’s another Thrift Score Thursday!
I’ve been trying to be really restrained with what I’m bringing into the house at the moment, so I actually haven’t had too many recent thrift scores lately.
Which means it’s time for another round of…
Things I Didn’t Buy At The Thrift Store
You guys know my overwhelming attraction to brass animals! So I was pretty tempted by this little brass quail, but managed to graciously leave it behind for some other lucky thrifter.
How cute is this ornate rolling brass plant stand? I love the teeny brass casters!
I thought this embroidered art was really striking! I’m always in awe at the skill and effort pieces like this must have taken!
P.S. Does anyone else get stuck trying to find words in the light yellow stitching on the road? I feel like it has to say something, right?!
This original pastel portrait was really neat, but I’m no Emily Henderson. I don’t think I’m quite cool enough to pull off a random little boy in my decorating scheme… Yet.
These two brass lamps were in great shape and obviously quite well-made. If there was a twin to either one, I would have been pretty likely to bring the pair home! My inability to buy singles of things helps keep my thrift store purchases in check.
Finally, I snapped a picture of this super cool vintage adding machine that’s been sitting in this thrift store for months now. I’m curious if it will ever sell, but it’s fun to admire!
The Features:
Okay, you guys – we’re back to the good old way of sharing #thriftscorethursday features. As much as I loved the embedded functionality last week, I heard from several of you guys that you weren’t even able to view the pictures, which kind of defeats the purpose, right?
So I went back to the usual way of uploading and linking the features. Which reminds me – did you realize that each feature photo is linked to its source on Instagram? So if you click the photo, you’ll be able to view it in context on Instagram, like it, and even follow the Instagrammer from there! I’m not sure I ever spelled that out clearly before, but I take a few extra minutes each time to make sure it’s easy for you to track our featured Instagrammers down and give them all the love!
Ready for the actual features now?
Sharla (thealabastervessel) found this 1930’s German-wind up clock for $2 at a garage sale! I’ve never seen anything like it and I’m not exactly sure how it works, but I absolutely love it!
Such a great idea from Crystal (clearcutcrystal) – she created this inspirational word art on top of an old piece of art! It’s such a great backdrop for her lovely fall vignette.
Can you tell I have a thing for art? I’m obsessed with this incredible Toronto Symphony art (by artist Toller Cranston – definitely worth investigating, you guys!) that mellabobella found at a local vintage store.
Check out this eye candy Maria (yomiland) shared to celebrate her new thrifted cane-back barrel chairs (which look just a little bit like mine)! I love it all!

Nicole from Design It Vintage is joining us again as a guest host!
She’s taking a break from working on her laundry room makeover for the One Room Challenge to share her latest finds with us today!
Be sure to check out the finds and features from Cassie, Corinna & Trisha!
P.S. Are you a blogger who also love thrifty finds? We’d love to have you join us for a week of Thrift Score Thursday! If you’re interested, send me a message!
you totally could pull off the little boy painting. you are that cool.
Well dang it. I’m sure it’s long gone. I’ve failed to live up to Emily Henderson, yet again! 😉
Oh I think that boy would look so cool in your house.
Starting to regret that one just a little!
Ooh those barrel chairs! I just left a similar brass lamp like the one to the left behind. I’m tempted to see if it’s still there because I’ve acquired a new table that needs a lamp now! Irony, kinda rude sometimes.
That always happens! I’ll leave something behind because I don’t have a place for it, then, of course, shortly thereafter I realize that i desperately need it!
Pair-less lamps are so sad. It is incredibly difficult to decorate with just one. The two I featured a while back are sitting in my living room mocking me right now. I bet that little boy painting would be a fun Halloween decor item- like you did last year when throwing a mask on your entryway lady! I admire your restraint though, that rolling planter would have found its way in my cart no matter if there’s a spot for it or not!
You’re so smart! That would have been a perfect idea! I can just see him now with a Batman mask… Of course it’s long gone, I’m sure!
Thank you so much Brynne for having me back, it’s so much fun. I love all the items you didn’t purchase and its so hard not too, but sometimes we just have to let it go to another home.
Thanks for joining us, Nicole! I agree – if it’s not perfect for me, it’ll be perfect for someone else!
