Top of the morning to you and a good Thrift Score Thursday to all! How has your week been? I didn’t manage to pull a post together earlier this week, but I hope today’s post will make up for it – a fabulous new DIY project over on Remodelaholic, some thrifty-vintagey goodness, and the almost-unbelievably tall tale of my thrift score this week!
Honestly, keeping the project for Remodelaholic under wraps for the last few weeks has been killing me, I was so excited to share with you! As soon as I spotted the Geometria clock on the Anthropologie website, I knew I had to try my hand at something similar. Stop by the post on Remodelaholic for a full tutorial on the faux painting technique I used!
On to the #thriftscorethursday party! You guys just keep bringing it week after week! I can’t say it enough – if you like what you see here each Thursday, you definitely need to sit and spend some time scrolling through the hashtag on Instagram! And if you have a thrifty find of your own to share, just post it on Instagram or Twitter using #thriftscorethursday!
The Facts:
– You can share any thrifty finds with us – whether they hail from a thrift store, Craigslist, estate sale, garage sale, side of the road, or apartment dumpster! The fun, the funny, the awesome, the odd – this hashtag party is open to all!
– Feel free to use #thriftscorethursday any day of the week! We’ll be keeping up with the hashtag all week long to find our favorites for the following Thursday.

So please note that by linking up with#thriftscorethursday, you are giving us permission to share your finds via social media or on our blogs.
The Features:
Nicole from Design It Vintage (Instagram: design_it_vintage) shared this absolutely incredible pivoting brass lamp. I mean, just check out the details! I’ve never seen a piece like this before, but I certainly hope I will one day!
Sabrina (Instagram: futuristichuman) consistently posts awe-inspiring mid-century finds that I drool over week after week, but I fell especially hard for this fuzzy floral lion pillow! I shared my own lion thrift find last week and opinions were definitely mixed as to whether I made the right call leaving it behind. This lion would come home with me in a heartbeat! (And I would probably overpay without blinking too!)
Holy tufted velvet Batmant! Check out this gorgeous sofa Hailey from Here Nor There (Instagram: herenortherestudios) posted! Such fantastic condition and row after row of delicious tufting! I just had to feature it this week, especially in light of my own thrift find…
My Finds:
I posted a sneak peek of one of these tufted yellow chairs on Instagram last week and it took all my self-control to save the full shots for today! I’ve been on the look out for a pair of tufted yellow velvet chairs since before starting my living room makeover last fall, but Craigslist is a fickle creature and finally dropped them in my lap when I was least looking for them. There was just no way I could refuse!
They were in a listing for a garage sale the following weekend, but I gushed to the seller over email and begged her to sell the chairs to me early and thankfully she was happy to let me come pick them up that afternoon. This shade of yellow is my absolute favorite – when I showed up, the seller asked me if I had dressed to match then intentionally, and I realized that my scarf was a perfect match!
One of the chairs has a little hole in the caning, but I’ll just throw a pillow against that arm. And the velvet is a little worn in the front, but for some reason I find it perfectly charming.
These chairs were just meant to be, because here is where the story gets really crazy… I was doing a Google image search for yellow tufted chairs (as one does with an exciting new find) when lo and behold I spotted my very pair of chairs!
So naturally I clicked over to investigate and ended up on my own blog!
Two years ago, I apparently did a Gather This post featuring some fun chairs I had found on Craigslist…including the very pair that now sits in my home! I know this because the chair on the right in the photo above has the exact same wear on the velvet in the front. And I swear to goodness, I didn’t have the faintest memory that I had ever done such a thing, but still when I spotted them on Craigslist this time I knew they had to be mine. So I seize my second chance without even realizing it was a second chance!
How often does that happen in this world?!
(More than once, apparently.)
The universe wanted me to have these chairs. Our destinies are intertwined. You know how the saying goes: “If you love a chair, set it free. If it comes back to you…”
I’ll see myself out.
P.S. If you’re a blogger who loves thrifty finds too, we’d love to have you guest host a week of Thrift Score Thursday with us! Just send me a message!

You have magical Craigslist powers. Your new name should be Brynne, Goddess of Craigslist, I bow to thee ha!
Gosh darn it I knew I loved that brass lamp but somehow managed to forget about it this Thursday. That's the thing dreams are made of!
Hahaha! I'll allow it 😉
Haha! I love it! Time travel indeed! Stars aligned! I was inspecting the photo to see if they were the same pair, before finishing reading again. How cool!
That is total craziness Brynne!! Glad you could be officially reunited IRL with the chairs!
