Hey you guys! Welcome to Thrift Score Thursday! I just got back in town from an incredible whirlwind trip to Memphis with Ace Hardware and Amy Howard – you will definitely be hearing more about it soon! I hope your week has been full of fantastic things as well!
My Find:
Even though the temperatures in Dallas haven’t gotten hip to the whole “fall” thing quite yet, I’ve been so inspired by all the other bloggers gorgeous fall decor that I had to switch up my entryway console table just a bit…
This French needlepoint is one of my favorite thrifted pieces of art for convoluted humor reasons… You can read all about The Original Couch Floozy right here. The colors also happen to be perfect for fall!
The huge green book was a long ago thrift store find that not only has fabulous aerial photographs inside, but also makes an incredible prop. You’ve probably seen it in my photos tons of times – I literally can’t vignette without it.

The wooden bowl was a hand-me-down from my mom and I filled it with moss rocks left over from my DIY Succulent Rock Garden Centerpiece. Add a little fake succulent in an old Tequila bottle, one of my favorite Voluspa candles, oh, and…
Today’s official thrift score:
This fan-freaking-tastic vintage brass obelisk!
I couldn’t help myself. It was outside of my normal thrifting decor budget (okay, fine, it was $15… I know, I’m such a cheapskate), but I knew I would eternally regret leaving it behind (okay, fine, I may be exaggerating slightly, but “thrifter’s remorse” is no joke, you guys). So I was pleasantly surprised when I brought it up and they rang it up for me for $11!
It’s marked “Decorative Crafts Incorporated” on the bottom, but that hasn’t really helped me track down any information on it, although this set of 4 identical brass obelisks sold on 1st Dibs, presumably for all the money!
The Features:
Talk about an instant collection! Jennifer (jenniferdimplesandtangles) popped into a neighborhood estate sale and found TWELVE fox and lamb silver plated salt cellars – how adorable are these?! If she’s going to part with any, I call dibs!
This framed African textile Suzy (winkwinkstudio) found at a local consignment shop is 7′ by 4′ and absolute perfection in this spot over the sofa. I am all about oversized statement art, the more unique the better!
You know what we don’t see enough of these days? Tension pole lamps like this stunning brass Mid Century find Anna (annabode) snapped up on her local Craigslist. I’m not sure why this trend faded away, but I vote it be revived STAT!
Meet my newest favorite Instagram feed: Doug (doug_fritock) posts the most fun and fabulous thrift and vintage finds! I absolutely love this sunny nook he shared featuring a recent Craigslist-score Vatne Mobler Mid Century lounge chair and ottoman. (Spoiler alert: the Anthropologie rug was also a Craigslist find!)

That lounge chair! But I also have to comment on the rug it’s standing on, so fabulous!
Oh yes! I love them both, but especially together! I’ll be dreaming of that rug for a long time now!
Such great finds! The obelisk is terrific! And I love Anna’s lamp!
Thanks Kristen! I really do wish I would see more lamps like that in design – I might have to go searching on Pinterest for more inspiration. I love them!
i want all of your features and that brass tower! SO fun! i live near DC, so i think you should send it to me.
I will think of you whenever I look at it… here in my house… I added the marbled green glass plate to the vignette today, by the way! Thank you sweet friend!
Love your entry arrangement, Brynne! That artwork is such a lovely color palette for Fall. Thanks for sharing my fun salt cellars!
Thank you so much, Jennifer! I can’t wait to see how you decorate with your lovely new collection!
I used to despise tension pole lamps mostly because my parents room was stuck in a not so attractive brown on brown on brown living room. However, when I dug it up years later, I loved the MCM lines of the shade.
Is it weird that your brass obelisk reminds me of the Washington Monument? Either way its very elegant.
Haha, it really does look like the Washington Monument! And it’s right next door to my Federal eagle mirror, so my entryway is like totally patriotic! 😀
I have Obelisk envy. Is that “normal”?! Great find and your vignette is amazing.
Haha, too funny, Marci! Thank you so much 🙂
I didn’t even know what an obelisk was. A pointey monument looking thing is what I thought the correct term was. Fabulous piece of decor though and worth every bit of that $11.
Haha, that does describe it accurately though! I know I’ll just sound greedy at this point, but I’d really looove to find another one someday so I’ll have a matching pair!
Love your little fall vignette, it’s so pretty!
Thank you sweet lady! And I woke up this morning to the surprise of a cool, sunny, breezy 60 degrees… An “if you build it, they will come” moment! 🙂
Love that art and Doug’s whole room!! That lamp is awesome, but could you imagine it in my living room? Haha it would look like a firehouse pole!
That would be hilarious! I guess the design is better for the lower ceilings of Mid-Century (or in my case, 80’s) architecture.
