Hello sweet friends! It’s the 80th round of Thrift Score Thursday and, I just checked – our total number of Instagram submissions has reached over 5,000! You guys rock!
My Find:
This little gray elephant planter was around $4 at the thrift store, and I found him shortly after buying this other vintage elephant planter. At first I was like, “But do I really need two vintage elephant planters?” And then I remembered my friend Gretchen’s recent bathroom reveal featuring all the vintage planters and I was like, “Yep. Want. Need.”
So this adorably chubby little guy came home with me and got planted with some faux succulents in not-faux potting soil.
He’s marked on the side, “© Gare Inc 1976” and a little Google research revealed that Gare Inc is still in business as a paint your own pottery supplier, although this particular elephant planter model is no longer available.
I mean, how could you resist that face?
Spoiler alert: It’s not possible!
The Features:
Let’s dive into this week’s Thrift Score Thursday features!
I am just all about the floral print on these Steubenville Horizon plates thrifted by Kim (thisbellerocks), as well as that adorable teak flatware! They look like they came straight out of Anthropologie, don’t you agree?
My jaw very-nearly-literally dropped when I spotted this shot shared by Kate (modbeachhouse). I adore every last detail, although I think the 3D zebra planter hit me extra hard! Love this talented lady and her stunning Instagram feed!
I love when this happens. Two weeks ago, Bree (bumblebreeblog) shared an adorable collection of cat-shaped wooden nesting dolls, and then last week, Britt (brittkingery) posted a similar set, just confirming how much I absolutely love that this is a thing!
I mean, let’s take a poll… Did you know that these existed before this? And isn’t your life enriched now that you do know?

Finally, let’s just take a collective moment to swoon over this shot from Jennifer (fleamarketfab)… Just the most amazing blend of Mexican equipale chairs (which I see frequently on the Dallas Craigslist), vintage rugs, greenery, and those incredible tassels – I’m definitely taking notes!

Ha! You DEFINITELY need all the elephant planters :). And matryoshka cats!? yes.
Thanks for being such a good influence on my thrift shopping 😉
Such a sweet piece. Def off to check out Gretchen’s collection!
Thanks Trisha!
Thanks so much for having me cohost this week Brynne 🙂 I almost posted those nesting dolls too! xo
I loved having you join us, Kristin! Thanks for rocking guest hosting!
Thanks for the feature, Brynne!
Okay, so when I first looked at your planter, I saw a snail with a really large shell. (Please don’t try to look for it–it will only add confusion to your brain space, and then I’ll feel bad for even mentioning it!) But then the elephant appeared, and it is absolutely the CUTEST. Ps, you find the best fake succulents! The ones I find are usually super fake looking or cost like $75.
You’re so welcome!
I love the fake succulents at Hobby Lobby – they are so realistic! The only bummer is they are always excluded from the 50% off sales. So each stem is between 4 & 7 bucks. But still, not too bad! And I’ve gotten great deals on end-of-season floral arrangements at Michael’s that I just took apart for the succulent components, haha.
Those tassels have to come home with me. They’re amazing. And that has to be the most ADORABLE planter I’ve ever seen. EVER.
Aw, thanks Corinna! And I agree – I need those tassels in my life DESPERATELY!
