Hey friends! What’s up?
I’ll have some beans to spill regarding our move very soon. I don’t want to announce anything just yet, but let’s just say, the end is in sight…
If you know me well, then you know that I absolutely hate uncertainty, waiting, and surprises. And buying/selling a house is basically a strong cocktail of the above, with a little high stakes gambling thrown in for good measure.
I would not make a good poker player.
Or international spy, for the record.
Need me to reveal state secrets and start talking? Make me sit at home in an immaculate house waiting for the next step in a chain of endless next steps to occur. I will crack. Hard.
So as I mentioned last week, I’ve been hitting the thrift store quite frequently as a means of passing time and managing stress.
Now, my heartfelt intention with these trips is to adopt the famous traveler’s motto, “Take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints,” however, you know what they say…
The best laid plans…
My Finds:
In my defense:
Exhibit A: This colorful, woven bowl, I humbly submit, could not be left behind. Such an action would be unconscionable and perhaps, in some jurisdictions, criminal.
Exhibit B & C: The brass “pocket change” bowl and the gold four leaf clover. Both of these finds have been past features from the #thriftscorethursday Instagram feed, at which point both became highly coveted finds by yours truly. So when I found both myself for $1.99 each this past week, an executive decision was made to override self-control and gleefully run to the register…
Not to get too cheesy, but the combination of finding the little brass “pocket change” bowl and the four leaf clover in the same week just felt a little too perfect for my current situation. A reminder to pinch our pennies (oh all the fun little fees lately!) and to trust in a little bit of luck (or in God’s control of the situation, which is how I choose to interpret it.) Call it the crazy talking – and there has been some excess crazy lately, I’ll admit – but it was just the kind of serendipity I’ve come to love in thrifting!
The Features:
Now for this week’s fantastic features from the #thriftscorethursday Instagram feed…
No matter how they tossed the dice, @thriftcandy couldn’t leave this adorable pair of mugs behind. Just look at them there, so happy together!
And for everyone who now has that song stuck in your heads… You’re welcome:
Jen (@greensprucedesigns) was so proud of her 5 year old daughter when she picked out this darling little brass tea set at a yard sale instead of the flashier plastic toys. I would be too! Gotta train ’em young!
And sometimes thrift finds don’t make it home with you, but just have to live on in photographic format, like this beautiful carved wooden personage (Native American/mermaid?) Ariel (@pmqfortwo) spotted out antiquing!
There were some lovely chair finds in the feed this week! Dawna-Beth (@chateau_par_la_mer) found a pair of antique Louis XVI chairs at a storage unit sale for $60 and originally intended to refinish them, but ultimately fell in love with their original condition. Just dreamy!
This leather and chrome modern chair is the very first Instagram post from Teran (@teranj26) and it’s a hell of a way to break into the Thrift Score Thursday game, don’t you think? I haven’t even mentioned the best part – it’s one of a pair found for $15 each at Goodwill!
It’s always dangerous to stumble across a perfect pair of chairs “in the wild”. Danavee (@thisvintagegrove) just couldn’t resist these Mid-Century beauties found at an antique mall, and understandably so!
Finally, this pair of tufted leather chairs from @thriftedriches (kindly found by a friend!) is pretty much my dream furniture score right now. I’ve been pining for a pair just like this for ages!

Who doesn’t love some amazing chair finds? And Teran’s verry first IG post is one for the record book, my favorite. Had she posted it earlier it would have made the mood board!

i LOVE your basket! and i always love jen’s images. and i would take any of those chairs!
Thanks Cassie! I’m seriously kind of ridiculously obsessed with it. And DYING to find a pair of chairs (caramel leather, please, universe!) soon!
I want that pocket change bowl! I also absolutely love the you and me mugs!
Thanks for the feature today! Now, to reupholster or not? That is the question!
You’re so welcome, Danavee! Hmm… I’ll vote pro-reupholstering because I think there are just so many fun fabric possibilities to play around with! They’re such great chairs – wonderful find!
I would have scolded you if you had left the basket behind, so it’s good you didn’t ;). So many great chairs!
*whew* Good thing I bought it then! 😉 I’m such a chair-aholic. And a sofa-aholic… I just want to buy all the pretty places to sit!!!
Sickest scores ever! Of course that bowl is giving me thrift in dreams tonight.
