Good morning friends! How is this lovely Thrift Score Thursday treating you?
I am hanging in there during this roller coaster of selling our home and house shopping right now. “Roller coaster” is a good term because a) my anxiety is at near-lethal levels, b) my stomach is in my throat the entire time, and c) at any given moment I might just throw my hands up in the air and start screaming…
So I figured I’d keep it real with you guys – that’s what’s occupying 99.97% of every waking (and sleeping) moment of my life right now. The other 0.03% is thrifting, because when you’re playing the waiting game on offers and whatnot, rummaging through other people’s junk is what keeps you sane. Okay, partially sane. Marginally sane. Keeps you from the afore-mentioned arm raising and screaming, which is apparently very frowned upon in public places that are not amusement parks, state fairs, or the delivery wing of the hospital.
My Find:
So yes, despite the fact that my trips to the thrift stores have increased 247% lately, I’ve been doing my best to not actually buy things.
But when you find a pair of Mid-Century Lane Acclaim tables just sitting there on the floor at Goodwill, all lonely and forlorn, you just don’t say no and leave them shivering there in the cold.
Even when they’re a little… well loved.
Did you know? The “Acclaim” collection was designed for the Lane furniture company by Andre Bus in the late 50’s. The Acclaim series is easy to recognize by its signature oversized dovetail inlays, contrasting walnut with a lighter wood like oak or ash.
I have a huge soft spot for this collection, and at that price, you bet these came home with me! And (spoiler alert!) they’ve already received some major cosmetic help thanks to my beloved Restor-A-Finish (affiliate link). Would you believe that the black marks are completely gone and most of the water damage blended back into the finish? I can’t wait to share “after” photos soon!
With everything going on lately, I haven’t had a chance to snap those just yet, but I thought it might be helpful to share the “as found” shots to encourage you to look closer at what might appear to be beat up junk at first glance!
For more Lane Acclaim, check out this post where I restored a dining table and chairs from the series!
The Features:
So here’s what caught my eye in the #thriftscorethursday Instagram feed this week…
@karen.kupetsky shared this absolutely precious brass bathroom plaque. I just can’t get over it! It’s one of those little details that just adds bucket loads of charm to a space. Remember, small finds can pack a punch too!

Raphael (@thebeauideal) shared one of my new favorite thrift scores – this set of “Name Your Poison” cocktail glasses! I love the dark humor and absolutely must acquire a set of my own!

I love everything about this vignette from Kiova (@golddustgoods)! That serene lady art is so very 70’s in such a great way, and that brass skull is amazing.

I am really loving Asian decorating details lately! I’m so drawn to this curvaceous pagoda and those Foo dogs Megan (@meganmwallace12) found out yard sale and estate sale shopping. And are those pineapple bookends? What a haul!

I think I’ve featured at least two of this style of lamp (both floor and table) for past Thrift Score Thursdays, but I can’t help it – these “lily of the valley” arms and big round bulbs get me every time! I will say, I think this black + brass combo, found by M.Red (@theeventmaker), is my favorite version so far.

My embroidery kick is also still going strong! I drool for crewel! (And so, apparently are the puns…) Sarah (@thistleblooms) shared her stunning crewel collection that left my jaw somewhere in the vicinity of my knees.

Love all the features! I have been lusting after a cow skull for ages!
I had that 1970″s pic of the lady in my bedroom.
