Oh hi there! Remember me?
It’s definitely understandable if you’re a little hazy on the details 😉 I went radio silent for a while, and I really don’t have a glamorous (or even justifiable) excuse. Just daily life: working, eating, sleeping. Rinse, repeat.
So if you need a refresher, here you go:
Hi, I’m Brynne.
Lover of all things vintage and storied. Sometime DIYer and blogger.
Huge fan of Christmas, and counting down the days to decorating for the holidays and putting up the second Christmas tree I thrifted for $7 this past January!
Speaking of Christmas, if you, like me, are a fan of all the holiday trappings (especially if they have a few layers of patina/history) you’ll definitely want to get your hands on the Fall 2017 issue of Vintage Holiday magazine from Engaged Media!
Inside this issue, packed FULL of incredible retro Christmas decor, you just might recognize a shot or two…
Because that’s right, people – I’m on a boat in a magazine.
At the end of July, I was contacted by Victoria, the editor of Vintage Holiday, about a possible feature in the magazine – and everything was so busy I forgot to email her back! Thankfully she followed up again two more times (you guys, that’s how crazy life has been), and I checked my email and was reminded to jump on the chance to see my home in print for the very first time.
A few days later, I scheduled a phone call with Stephanie Agnes-Crockett who interviewed me for the story, and had a wonderful time chatting with her about thrift shopping, stealing Christmas decorations from my parents, and slapping a Santa hat on anything that’ll stand still.
She did such a great job of pulling all my ramblings together into a cohesive piece, full of tips for using eclectic thrifted finds in your holiday decor, and turning any deer-shaped figure into an honorary Rudolph with a dab of hot glue and a mini red pompom.
If you spy a copy in your local book, grocery, or craft store, you’ll definitely have to grab a copy, because mine is just one of many fantastic and whimsical Christmas home tours!
Inspiration for days!
70, to be precise.
(Days until Christmas, that is.
In case you were wondering!)
In other news, after a recent road trip, Bryan and I are completely obsessed with the thought of living in Colorado, and possibly entertaining thoughts of just one more move…

Colorado hair, don’t care.
It was roughly an 11 hour drive from the Dallas area to Colorado Springs, our first leg of the trip. We stayed there for a few days before heading up through Denver, Fort Collins, and Boulder, visiting all our favorite Colorado breweries and reveling in the absolutely beautiful September weather!

I want to go [back] to there.

Our favorite Colorado brewery: Crooked Stave in Denver.
We stayed at a few different Airbnb’s, which is always fun. I’m not going to lie, I spend a lot of time choosing the perfect place based on style! This Airbnb in Denver was in the historic district, and the apartment was white from floor to ceiling with glossy black trim – it had such a great effect!
This was another awesome place we stayed in Fort Collins – it was the attic of an old house that had been transformed into the most adorable loft space, complete with another little loft overlooking the kitchen.
Nothing makes me happier than cool, clear running water. I was in heaven.

A Brynne in her natural element.
Finally, what words are needed after this shot from the Rocky Mountain National Park?
If you need me, I’ll be over here daydreaming about mountains again!
Thanks for stopping by, friends – promise it won’t be quite so long before you hear from me again. I’ve been cooking up a project or two over here 😉
Welcome back!! I missed your posts, and I was hoping everything was going good. I have family in CO. I think you could find some pretty magical properties out there to put your unique style on. Glad to have you back on the radar!
Molly
Aw, thank you Molly! It’s so nice to hear from you ❤️ We “window-shopped” a tiny bit while we were in Colorado and got pretty excited at the possibilities! Just have to see if we can figure out the logistics over the next few years!
Congrats on being featured in a national publication; that is great news! I hope to see you blogging more in the future. I always love reading yours!
Thank you Kim! I have some projects and posts planned, so I’m hoping to ease back it in it ☺️
i am SO happy for you on the magazine! congrats, my friend! well deserved! also, i say DO IT! you only live once and now before you have kids is the time to do it! we are contemplating some things as well right now and it’s so much more complicated with kids who love where we are, etc… but we’re looking for possibly a better opportunity. who knows!
Thank you so much, Cassie! I’m not usually a “just do it!” type person because I can over-analyze everything to death, but… who knows! The thought of having a proper fall and winter is so incredibly appealing! ❤️ And while we were there, I found several 100+ year old homes for sale that got my wheels turning for sure!!!
This is fabulous! That white tree is gorgeous! I will keep my eyes peeled for a copy! Congrats love!
Thank you, Jess! Let me know if you see one “in the wild” ☺️
congrats on the feature friend!
Thank you, Ariel! ?
I so agree with what Cassie said. It’s so much easier without kids.
Looks like an amazing trip and big fat congratulations on the magazine feature. It looks wonderful
Yes, that’s what I’m thinking – this could be the best possible time to try something crazy! Thank you friend! It’s my first magazine feature and it was pretty thrilling! ☺️
Congratulations! I recognize those scenic Colorado views! I am from Granby (other side of Continental Divide from Ft. Collins) and am now in the Dallas area! It is good to hear from you again!
Oh wow! That’s so cool, Dina! Was it difficult to leave those views behind? I can’t imagine what it’s like to have so much beauty in the backyard!
Exiting news Brynne, I’ll have to pick up a copy for you to autograph!! As for a big move, you know I’m all for it. Never met a new place I couldn’t learn to thrift 😛
Aw, you’re the sweetest, Maggie! You can have that autograph anytime ? I’m with you! From what I’ve seen of Colorado thrifting, I think there’s a *lot* of possibilities!
This is so exciting Brynne!! That you posted, got featured and had a great vacation… Hahaha! I love it! And, I need to pick up that mag, ASAP! I love a retro Christmas and could use some fresh inspiration! Congrats again, friend! So well deserved!
