The Features:
Last week was my favorite yet! You guys shared so many awesome finds – it was a smorgasbord of thrifty treasures!
I am absolutely head over heels in love with Julia’s (cuckoo4design) fighting brass roosters! First of all, they are brass animals. Second of all, she mentions that they can double as weapons in the event of a home invasion! 😉 See them here in her gorgeous home!
I’m also very envious of Melissa’s (aprudentlife) fabulous retro lamp! She didn’t buy it at first, but then rushed back and was lucky to still get her hands on it after spying a similar one on Don Draper’s desk in Mad Men. So cool!
Okay, honestly, there were SO MANY great finds last week, it is killing me not to post them all! So I’m just going to have you to send you over to Instagram to view all the #thriftscorethursday posts and ooh and ah and potentially drool on whatever fancy schmancy electronic device you are using to view them.
My Find:
Hey, you know I love brass animals (like those awesome roosters up there)… This brass ibex is one of several I own (three swans, two deer, a rocking horse, and a squirrel are the others). I love using Mr. Ibex as a bookend, although now I think I need two. Right? My spidey OCD senses are tingling to have just one bookend 😉
Mr. Ibex was originally sitting on a rather ugly and poorly varnished wooden base, so I decoupaged an old book page on top – it just goes to show you that a little crafty love goes a long way!
But he’s snazzy now, isn’t he?
Hurry over and check out the finds and features from Megan & Trisha!
And now we want to hear from you! We are ready and waiting and beyond excited to see the fruits of your thrifty labors! Hashtag away!
oh all the brass goodness!!!!! i went yesterday before the snow came but not much to be found. boooo.
I haven't had much luck lately either! Lucky for me, I have an entire stash of old thrift store finds that are just now getting unpacked and seeing the light of day after our move, oh… nine months ago 😛
Garsh, that decoupage really suits Mr. Ibex well!
P.S. I find it amusing that the THREE of us all chose Julia's roosters! Yep, they're just that AWESOME!!
I know! They really are!
Love Mr. Ibex!
My mom just called me because my dad showed her the roosters and she wants some too. LOL! Sorry mom 😉
Everyone wants your roosters 🙂 Fingers crossed that I run across some one day – my brass animal menagerie is JUST getting started!
Man oh man…I want those fighting roosters. Bad.
Gah, I KNOW!!! Me too. Maybe we can plan an Italian Job-esque trip to "liberate" them from Julia's house… What? I totally didn't just say that…
Love the scores! That lamp and roosters are so cool!
I love your bookend. As a fellow OCD sufferer, I must tell you that you NEED two bookends. I could not handle just one in my house. Oh my gosh! ; ). I love the way you fixed the base. It is genius and I never ever would have thought of it! So cool!
