Thrift Score Thursday 19

May 29, 2014 by Brynne 11 Comments

Happy #thriftscorethursday my friends! It looks like last week was a fantastic thrifting week for you all!

New to #thriftscorethursday? It’s the most fantastic hashtag party to ever exist (well, we think so!) on Twitter or Instagram, hosted by yours truly, Trisha from Black and White Obsession, and Megan from Rental Revival.

Simply snap a picture of any thrifty find or thrifted treasure and use #thriftscorethursday when you share on Twitter or Instagram!

The Facts:

– You can share any thrifty finds with us – whether they hail from a thrift store, Craigslist, estate sale, garage sale, side of the road, or apartment dumpster! The fun, the funny, the awesome, the odd – this hashtag party is open to all!
– Feel free to use #thriftscorethursday any day of the week! We’ll be keeping up with the hashtag all week long to find our favorites for the following Thursday.
– Each week, Trisha from Black and White Obsession, Megan from Rental Revival, and I will pick a favorite thrift score or two to feature! So please note that by linking up with #thriftscorethursday, you are giving us permission to share your finds via social media or on our blogs.

The Features:

My lovely friend Ranjani (Instagram: rsuek) found this darling Bavarian tea set at a garage sale, but the best part is the little note she found tucked inside that gives such a neat glimpse into the history of the set!

Kayla’s thrifting luck has been off the charts lately – just check out her Instagram profile (kainaible)! I’ve never seen anything like this amazing vintage globe bar, but it just makes me want to start drinking scotch and smoking cigars and talking philosophy while thumbing through leather-bound books… Too cool, Kayla!

My Find:

Who’s ready for a little Christmas in May? This week I scored these two boxes of almost-completely-new colorful glass Christmas ornaments still with the original price on the box of $19.99 each. I paid $4 for both boxes!

Thrifting Secret: if you buy holiday decorations at the thrift store out of season, the prices are rock bottom! If it were November or December, I would expect to see these boxes priced at $5-8 a piece… $4 for 47 (okay, one ornament is missing) colorful glass ornaments is a screaming good deal in my book. These bright colors are going to look awesome on my white Christmas tree!

Did you thrift this week? Share your thrift scores! Do you like to shop for holiday decorations year round too?

I know! I'm so excited! I wanted colorful ornaments last year, but didn't want to spend any money on new stuff when I already had plenty of ornaments. Is it too early to put up my Christmas tree? 😉

I wish I had some info for you! Maybe try sharing a snapshot of your bar globe with the #thriftscorethursday group on Instagram and see if anyone has any suggestions? It’s a pretty fantastic community! Just make sure your settings are public so everyone can see the photo!
