The Features:
Check out this fabulous midcentury sectional Tanya from Dans Le Townhouse (Instagram: danslelakehouse) scored on Craigslist! I’m crazy for the wood frame on the bottom and those delicate spindly legs! Shawty got legs for dayyyyys!
Remember how much I love vintage children’s books? There’s just something about the colors and style of vintage illustrations that make me want to “squee” like I’m looking at a cute little puppy!
Vanessa from Tried and True (Instagram: triedandtrueblog) found this adorable Star Wars activity book – totally frame-worthy! I want to see more of the page with C3PO!
My Find:
I spotted this pair of lamps at Goodwill and made a beeline straight for them! My absolute favorite color yellow (just take a peek up at the blog header and design elements here on the blog for confirmation of that fact!) and a great classic shape to boot, not to mention my joy at finding a pair!
It’s so rare to find a pair of anything in the thrift stores around here. The best part: each lamp was $6.99!
In classic Brynne fashion, I was paranoid that someone was going to snatch my find out of my cart and make a dash for it… I *was* getting some very jealous stares, and thrifting can be more than a little cutthroat in my experience… Thankfully, I paid for them and headed home without incident. No fights to the death over these thrift scores at least 😉
The base on the lamp on the left has an unfortunate dent in it that keeps it from sitting flat. I probably need to just replace the bases and rewire the lamps anyway – they have ancient brown cords that I’m not exactly sure I trust not to spontaneously combust… And they need some fabulous tall and skinny lamp shades… And I need to decide where to put them… #thriftscorethursdayproblems.
I’m sure I’ll find the perfect place for them somewhere, and if not, well then, I can just carry them around on each hip like a pair of twins and sing lullabies to them… What? You don’t do that with your thrifty finds? Weirdo.
Well now I want to hear from you! Did you thrift this week? What did you score? Do you ever worry that someone’s going to snatch your thrift score and make a run for it?
Be sure to hurry over and check out the finds and features from Megan & Trisha too!
What a surprise to see my sofa!! Thanks for featuring it. I've been on the fence about investing the money to fix it up (some nights I dream of grey velvet or teal tweed). But seeing such a positive reaction from folks has me feeling the same love for it that I had when I bought it. Now let's hope it fits in the living room…
You're so welcome! I totally understand the dilemma – I have a vintage sofa that I love, but it needs work and I just can't bring myself to invest in it! We need #thriftscorethursday sponsors 🙂
I wish I had more time to go thrifting. I am so inspired by all your great finds 🙂
Thanks Katja! I look forward to my [usually] weekly thrift store trips – I go alone and it's a very relaxing afternoon for me – I call it my "thrifting therapy" 🙂
Ooh, those lamps are so pretty! Glad you didn't have to fight anyone for them 😉
Hehe, me too! I was keeping a wary eye out just in case 😉
Yup agree with Gretchen. I wanted to say the same thing and hate it when someone beats me to it 😉
"Ooh those lamps!" I might have fought you for them
Lol, I'm not proud to say that I would probably not back down… MY lamps! Actually, I would trade them for your cool leopard lamp in a heartbeat, so maybe we wouldn't need to resort to violence 😉
oh those star wars books are fabulous!!!!
I know! I want one now!
Those Star Wars finds. Oh my gosh! Want and need! And I love your lamps so much! They are brilliant. I do not carry my lamps on my hips, but I have been known to do that with shoes.
Jenni
Hehe, I would do it with shoes too! 🙂
Fun lamps! (Target has a few new shades that are in the taller style.)
Seriously, I have seen some very possessive and somewhat wacky behavior between people over their second-hand treasures in thrift stores.
I'll check Target – thanks! I have truly seen some crazy (and scary) confrontations go down at thrift stores – I'm always paranoid I'll be in the center of it someday!
