The Features:
Elena from ‘a casarella (Instagram: a_casarella) shared this brass deer figurine that completely stole my heart. One of these days, Goodwill, one of these days you will have brass deer and I will snatch them all up and run (after paying for them, of course). Elena’s Instagram account is so pretty – head over for a visit and follow along!

The ever-awesome Sabrina of Retro Future Furniture (Instagram: futuristichuman) has the best midcentury luck ever! I adore both the shape and shade of this amazing yellow lamp!

And finally (although I could seriously post like five or six others because it’s THAT hard to choose), I just had to share this crazy awesome panther planter that Stephanie from Sandpaper and Glue (Instagram: sandpaperglue) scored from her town’s online auction. Because now I want one too.

My Find:
I’ve had this little brass bottle opener for a while now. I picked it up at Goodwill for around $1 because I have this bad habit of picking up every brass piece I find, and because I loved the little hand shape!

So while I writing today’s post, I decided to Google and see if I could turn up any information on it…
Did you see that? That’s my little brass hand bottle opener. And that’s a price tag of $450. Here’s another more modestly priced at $235. And here’s Kelly Wearstler’s knockoff version.
P.S. Did I just one-up Kelly Wearstler? It just got real in here. Eat your heart out, K-Dubs.
P.P.S. That’s my affectionate celebrity nickname for her. It’s like ScarJo.
P.P.P.S. But seriously, I love Kelly Wearstler.
THIS IS WHY I HOARD, people.
Carl Aubock is the whimsical Austrian modernist designer who loved turning little brass hands and feet into household objects. His designs rock!

Am I selling mine anytime soon? Probably not. If you want to give me $450 for it though, it’s yours. I will, however, probably retire it from daily use as a bottle opener. 😉
Well, now I want to hear from you! Did you thrift this week? What did you find?

Seriously, it'd be hard to turn down a $449 profit!! I don't think I'd let that bad boy escape my clutch either!
It's probably the best feeling when you purchase a thrifty treasure and find out it's worth a TON of money! More for the fact that it's like 'Hey I got STYYYYLE!"
EXACTLY! Me and Kelly Wearstler, I'm telling you! Waiting for her call any day now 😉
That's so awesome!!!! Need to start googling some of my stuff!
Googling all my thrifty finds afterwards is the best part! I just can't believe I've had this one for so long and never stumbled across Carl Aubock before yesterday!
Great find! I'm definitely going to be on the lookout for little brassy things from now on!
Once you start, it's hard to stop! 🙂
thanks for the feature!! LOVE the bottle opener, what a score!
You're so welcome Stephanie 🙂 And I seriously love that planter! My husband saw it and told me his brother had the exact same one, so now I'm trying to track it down and get my hands on it 😛
Get the heck out!!! How lucky are you?? That's one amazing find right there!
Eek! I know – how crazy! I've owned & used this for years without realizing!
Bad. Ass. Find. 🙂 !!
Haha! Thanks Dena 🙂
Loved the hand even before I knew what a major score it was–well done! And thanks so much for linking to my instagram and my deer. I really enjoy thrift score Thursday 🙂

You're welcome Elena! I'm so glad you're playing along with Thrift Score Thursday – you've got some wonderful finds! 🙂
WOW! What an amazing find! I absolutely love that bottle opener. It is the coolest. And for it to be actually worth something makes it even cooler! I tried a thrift store the other day and it was a bust. Great finds! : )

My thrift store trips lately haven't been very good. All my best finds are from when we lived in downtown Dallas! The suburb thrift stores haven't been very kind to me 😛
oh i love your bottle opener!!! so fun!
Thank you Cassie!
I have that same hand and use it all the time. Never bothered to look it up. Thanks for the info on it.
What an awesome find that little bottle opener was. I would love it even if it were only worth $1. Nice score.
