Happy #thriftscorethursday you guys!
The thrifting gods have been smiling on me lately, perhaps to make up for the many fruitless thrift store trips of December and January. Not only did I find several really neat things out thrifting over the weekend, but I also had a $10 off coupon at Goodwill, so basically I made out like a bandit.
No comment on the fact that the $10 off coupon was due to my completely filling out a Goodwill stamp card… One stamp for every $10 spent, ten stamps to fill the card…
Let’s just gloss over my Goodwill spending habits and instead focus on a) coupon! yay! and b) this fabulous vintage wall hanging I acquired with it.
I don’t think the size of this wall hanging is really conveying in this photo.
It’s huge.
40”x40” according to the tag on the back, although as you can see it’s not exactly perfectly circular anymore.
What tag on the back, you ask? This one, telling me the precise who, what, when, and where of this handmade piece of art! If only all vintage thrift finds came complete with this kind of information!
When I got home I did a little digging into Don Freedman and discovered so many incredible wall hangings he designed. Each includes a tag with his signature cipher on it. This piece has a clay disk stitched to the front engraved “DF”. And you can see a little embroidered copyright symbol as well!
I brought this home without a clear idea where I would hang it, but I carried it into the bedroom on a whim and it was absolutely perfect in there. I think shades of caramel/camel + this soft blush pink is quickly becoming my new favorite color combination!

I’ll admit, this piece is a little out there and probably not everyone’s cup of tea! But I love it.
It’s shaggy and a little weird and I love it.
The Features:
So let’s talk about what you guys shared last week!
Devon (Instagram: brideonabike) posted the contents of her cart at Goodwill and I was like “Yes!” to everything, but especially those crazy awesome llama bookends. What will they think of next? Aren’t they the coolest?
I’m dying over this adorable vintage ring dish (from Japan, circa the ‘50’s) shared by Jenn (Instagram: suite22antiques). So heart-squeezingly adorable! Check out her Etsy shop for more of her charming (and always beautifully staged and photographed) finds!
Oscar (Instagram: oscarbravohome) posted this stunning vignette – the vase is actually an old artillery shell found at the flea market. Not only that, but he created the Picasso style artwork himself! If you aren’t following oscarbravohome on Instagram, you need to start!
Be still my beating heart! Maggie from Maggie Overby Studios (Instagram: maggieoverbystudios) found this stunning Doria chandelier at the thrift store for just $22! And she spotted a very similar one listed on 1stdibs for $3200… What a score! Read her full story here.
