We are so happy to welcome back Paula from Sweet Pea as our guest host this week! Have you seen this stunning patriot dresser she recently created from a basic Ikea piece? So cool!
The Features:
I have such a weakness for vintage and antique books! The textural covers, the typography, the vintage images – I am swooning over these books that Kelly (Instagram: olie.and.co) found for quarters at a garage sale!
I love this incredible vintage wall sculpture shared by Nicole from Design It Vintage (Instagram: design_it_vintage)! Also, I kind of hate her (in the nicest possible way) because it was only $1.
You guys, what is it with you and these incredible prices?! I need to shop where you are shopping!
I love the way Ansley from Vivaciously Vintage (Instagram: vivaciouslyvintage) made over this sweet midcentury dresser. Such a great idea to move the three patterned drawers to the middle! I love seeing #thriftscorethursday makeovers, so keep them coming my friends!
If you aren’t dying over this enormous brass deer Jess from Domicile 37 (Instagram: domicile37) shared (she say it weighs 50-60 pounds!), then I’m not sure exactly what’s wrong with you… You might not have a pulse. You should look into that. But seriously – how fabulous is this guy?!
I have a confession to make: way back when, I came across a pair of these brass deer in a thrift store for $100 for the pair. That was way too rich for my blood, but when the price was slashed in half a few months later, I was extremely tempted. I tried to talk myself into pulling the trigger, but then one day they had sold. As dramatic as it sounds, I regret not buying them to this day!
My Find:
Speaking of “the ones that got away” at the thrift store, here is my find for the week… (I promise – lucite coffee table post coming soon – I just haven’t had a chance to get really good photographs yet)
These awesome jade-colored Chinese Chippendale-esque lamps were $11 each and I was seriously tempted. But I knew I didn’t have a purpose for them in my home, since I already have my yellow #thriftscorethursday lamps, so like a good girl I (sadly) left them behind.
Guess what happened yesterday? Our kitty Tiny Tina accidently sent one of my yellow lamps crashing to the ground, leaving a huge crack running up the side! I don’t think I can repair it and the crack is so obvious, I can’t hide it. So I’m kicking myself for leaving those awesome jade lamps behind!
The moral of this story? Lamp hoarding: good.
Okay you guys, let’s hear it! What’s your “one that got away” #thriftscorethursday story?
Be sure to check out the finds and features from Trisha, Cassie, Corinna & Paula!
Wow, those finds this week are just killer!!
Agreed Ashley! Everyone always shares the most inspiring things!
I love that dresser makeover! I have never found a decent lamp thrifting in my area. If I had seen those green lamps, they would have definitely have come home with me. Maybe you'll get lucky and they'll still be in the store the next time you go back.
Thanks so much for having me as a co-hostess this week for Thrift Score Thursday.
I can only hope! I think I totally learned my lesson about not leaving awesome lamps behind 🙂
Thanks so much for joining us this week Paula!
Lamp hoarding, less conspicuous than couch hoarding ;D
Haha, absolutely! So much easier to store 😉
oh those lamps were good, but hopefully someone else loves and appreciates them. and once again our features overlapped. 🙂
What I'm REALLY hoping is that somehow everyone else who saw them thought they were absolutely hideous so they're still there waiting for me! 😀
Thanks for the mention Brynne! I totally feel ya on lamp hoarding…you never know when you will need one or remodeling and need one on the spot. I love lamps…I told myself, "only if there is a pair, I will buy it". I have so many lamps that do not have a pair and it drives me crazy. I just read the comment above, I think we may have some things in common…couch hoarding…Haha!
You're so welcome! Love love love your brass deer find!!! And yes, I do have a couch hoarding problem! I'm down to two right now (one in use in the living room, one in the garage). 😉
ooh, those lamps! Next time you find something like that and don't have a place for it, just send it on to me 😉
Hehe, I've learned my lesson – next time I will hoard all the lamps!
Oh no, your yellow lamp is now mate-less. It could mean a new set is on the horizon…
I am so sad about that yellow lamp. I'm trying not to think about it!
How do you find pairs of lamps?!?! Seriously you have a gift!! 🙂
Once in a blue moon… Here's hoping a fabulous pair comes around again soon!
Love those lamps
Me too Julia! Should have, would have, could have…
That spudnick piece is amazing!
Right? So fabulous!
I am dying over that brass deer!!! Want!!!!
Your "catch and release" day should have been "catch and keep"! Something perfect will come along…or those green lamps may still be there!
