Good morning and happy first #thriftscorethursday of 2015 to you!
Did you manage to squeeze any thrifting in over the holidays? I have to say, I haven’t been to a thrift store in what feels like forever… I feel a little thrifting adventure coming up this weekend!
Gretchen from Boxy Colonial is our guest host this week, here to help us welcome in a new year of thrifted goodness! She and her husband just built THE coolest modern plywood table for their basement living area – you’ve got to check it out!
If you’re joining us for #thriftscorethursday for the first time, welcome! It’s really easy to join our little hashtag party…
Simply post a picture of any recent find on Twitter or Instagram using #thriftscorethursday!

The Features:
A few weeks ago, I featured Turena’s (Instagram: tsfinds) incredible Pearsall gondola sofa find and promised to share pictures when she finished upholstering it! Check out the incredible job she did…
I love this feature from Rachel (Instagram: creationsbyrachelw) because it’s such a fantastically creative upcycle of her thrift scores (the mason jars)! And you all know how I feel about copper pipe + light fixtures…
Lastly, I just can’t get over this adorable brass bunny from Sandra (Instagram: lightglassandtrend). I’ve never met a brass animal I haven’t liked… Challenge accepted anyone? Prove me wrong!
My Find:
I’m totally cheating.
I’ve already shared my vintage typewriter with you guys but for our Christmas party it began serving a new purpose…
It would be ridiculous to even call this a “hack” since the steps went: arrange speakers around typewriter; prop mp3 player (yes, that is a “vintage” Zune!); plug in speaker chord. But it definitely added a little bit of extra fun to our Christmas playlist!
Now it’s your turn! Have you done any thrifting recently? What have you found?
Be sure to check out the finds and features from Trisha, Cassie, Corinna & Gretchen!
That's actually quite clever with the mp3 player and typewriter! I'll definitively be catching up on thrifting adventures this weekend, if I can brave the cold!
Oh man – it's even been freezing here lately and I'm such a wimp about it! I might content myself with browsing the Goodwill website! 😉
Hah, love the typewriter turned player, It's the simple ideas sometimes that are the best.
Right? You can't beat simple!
OH MY GOSH i love that use!!! it's perfect!
Thanks Cassie!
Totally genius! Also, it was such a sweet idea to prop your black and gold leaf canvases behind it!
Yep, that's their temporary home! I'm not 100% sure yet where they'll actually end up…
I am totally blown away by that couch!
I know! Me too! She's incredible!
That sofa is amazing! And that's a great idea with the typewriter…..I love old typewriters, but it seems like they're so big and heavy they need to be DOING something….like old times. Now yours has a job again; I bet that makes it very happy 🙂
Yes – realistically I knew I wasn't going to put a ton of time and effort into fixing it back up into working order, so I'm happy to have found a funky repurpose for it!
