It’s #thriftscorethursday once more and I’m enjoying our Thursday tradition more than ever! Since opening up Thrift Score Thursday to guest hosts last week, we had an unbelievably awesome response and I’m just so excited about this new twist.
Our guest host today is Anna from Le Crafteur and – get this – she is actually the manager of a thrift store, St. Margaret’s Thrift Shop! Trisha and I came up with some burning questions we wanted to ask her about managing a thrift store, so be sure to pop over to her blog after this for the fun Q & A session!
Just now finding out about the marvelousness that is #thriftscorethursday?

The Features:
One of the things I love about #thriftscorethursday is that it allows me to virtually “meet” so many awesome and talented people! I’m now completely obsessed with Jenny’s gorgeous blog and Instagram (Mikasa Su Casa, Instagram: mikasasucasa) and I think you will be too! She shares lovely vignettes like this of her thrifted treasures… I fell in love with this perfectly sweet paint by numbers artwork! But isn’t the way Jenny styled the shot divine as well?
See the painting in her daughter’s room makeover here!
Rachel (Instagram: creationsbyrachelw) used these vintage thrifted mugs to create a beautiful herb garden planter! Isn’t this a wonderful idea?
Sometimes, there are days where you find one fantastic thing out thrift shopping. And sometimes, you come home with the mother lode of thrift score hauls… Like Jenn from Suite22 Antiques (Instagram: suite22antiques – another Instagram account you definitely want to follow!) Owls and rusty hardware – what’s not to love?
My Find:
I finally found it.
My personal secondhand holy grail…
Are you sensing what’s about to happen here?
I just recently found out about and joined several local “online garage sale” Facebook groups (you can usually find these by typing in some local towns and the words “garage sale” in the Facebook search bar). Late last Wednesday night, this vintage Underwood typewriter popped up in my Facebook news feed in the town next door for just $30 and I commented to claim it as quickly as I could! Bryan kindly dropped by to pick it up for me while I was at work (and I may or may not have texted him multiple times beforehand to make sure he remembered).
I have no idea whether or not this typewriter works or could work, but I’ll be doing some reading up on it soon! I did do a little research on this typewriter, and apparently portable Underwood Champion typewriters with a carrying case like this one date to the 1930’s.
I love it so much and it just photographs beautifully! I couldn’t stop snapping photos 🙂
So what about you? Did you score anything awesome recently? We’d love to see!

Be sure to check out the finds and features from my lovely cohosts Trisha & Anna!

oh that painting! i need to visit that blog and see in her daughter's room! 🙂
Yes, you definitely do! It's a new favorite blog for me to stalk!
That painting and Wiz book rock! Wow! I need to remember to hashtag you guys one of these days! xoxo
We'd love for you to join in! You can even add the hashtag to some old thrifted finds too! 🙂
I always love meeting a fellow typewriter enthusiast! I've used mine for so many fun projects!
Oooh, I'd love to see some of those projects! I'm hoping I can read up and learn how to use mine!
Oh man, I've played with muslin, art trading cards, and one of my favorites was to paint those magazine subscription cards different colors and then type over. I made those into Valentine cards. So much fun! Underwood is seriously like the holy grail of typewriters in my opinion!
OMGee girl, welcome to the world of old typewriters!! I think our typewriters could have a tea party or something as mine's from the same era. Gosh it's so darn pretty!!
I'm so excited!!! We should definitely plan a typewriter play date 😉
Love that old typewriter! I wonder if my mom still has hers? I can remember her pounding away on her manual typewriter making out tests and quizzes for school.
What a great memory! My favorite part is the "Back Space" key on the typewriter because it's a key I use CONSTANTLY on my laptop, but the function is so different now. I don't know what I would do without the ability to quickly correct my frequent typing errors!
Whoa! look at that typewriter–nice! I think you're going to need to start typing up your blog entries on that thing and scanning them to get them online 😉
Brilliant! Although I think it might drastically slow down my posting rate… Totally worth it though 😉
That is one rocking type writer!! Love it! I can't wait to find out if it works or not. Even if it doesn't it has style coming out of every key.
Brynne!
Thank you so much for your sweetness!!!
And thanks for the feature, I've found my people over here on #thriftscorethursday !!!
🙂
Yay! I'm so glad 🙂 Thanks for sharing your fabulousness with us!
