We are back! I had to take a week off of #thriftscorethursday last week, but I’m back! Let the #thriftscorethursday games begin! May the thrifting odds be ever in your favor!
(Speaking of thrifting odds, I can’t fail to reference the huge number of clown paraphernalia/memorabilia I come across every time I go out thrift shopping. Every time. That and DVD copies of Garden State. What gives?)
If you are new to #thriftscorethursday, let me encourage you to jump right in! Join the party by sharing a picture of a recent thrifty find on Twitter or Instagram using #thriftscorethursday so we can all see it!
The Facts:
– You can share any thrifty finds with us – whether they hail from a thrift store, Craigslist, estate sale, garage sale, side of the road, or apartment dumpster! The fun, the funny, the awesome, the odd – this hashtag party is open to all!
– Feel free to use #thriftscorethursday any day of the week! We’ll be keeping up with the hashtag all week long to find our favorites for the following Thursday.
– Each week, Trisha from Black and White Obsession, Megan from Rental Revival, and I will pick a favorite thrift score or two to feature! So please note that by linking up with #thriftscorethursday, you are giving us permission to share your finds via social media or on our blogs.
The Features:
I had so many amazing finds to pick from this week! Summer always seems to bring the best scores, doesn’t it?
I love when I’m browsing the Thrift Score Thursday hashtag on Instagram and I spy something that stops me dead in my tracks because it is SO me and I would have bought it in a heartbeat as well.
This vintage acrylic globe found by Julia from Cuckoo 4 Design (Instagram: cuckoo4design) is definitely one such find! I love the black, white & gold color scheme intensely.
As far I’m concerned, Tanya from Dans Le Lakehouse (Instagram: danslelakehouse) won Thrift Score Thursday for all eternity with her snapshot of this gorgeous vintage turquoise typewriter with a typed message including the hashtag! So cool, so genius!
Finally, I just had to shoutout this awesome vintage window turned photo display shared by Bailey (Instagram: _janiejones_) because I’ve been helping my sister-in-law get furnishings/decorations together for her new apartment and she just scored a set of vintage windows as well! Such a fun idea!
My Finds:
Everything is better in pairs, right? Right?!
And if something is supposed to be in a pair but has been separated from its other half… Well, that is just the saddest thing.
One earring. One shoe. A single doughnut… (Hey, I can’t be the only person who needs more than one doughnut, right? Right?!)
One bookend.
I spotted brass on the shelf at the thrift store yesterday and instinctively made a beeline for it, much as a zombie might fixate on brains and shuffle desperately towards the nearest one… “Braaasssssss”
It was a fun little brass bookend shaped like a gingko leaf and very reasonably priced so I dropped it in my basket without hesitation. I scanned the nearby shelves for its mate, but I knew that was a bit much to hope for. Thrift stores never seem to keep things in pairs. I have come to accept that inevitability. Sure enough, no kindred gleam of brass met my eye, so I kept perusing.
I made my way over to the DVD section (and scored nearly-new copies of some favorite movies, I might add) and was pushing past the luggage section when I spotted it. The second bookend! That moment felt like one of my luckiest moments ever and I was grinning ear to ear. I absolutely had not even entertained the hope that I could complete the set! It was completely unexpected.
Serendipity is one of my favorite words and one of my favorite feelings…

For the photos, I displayed them with these adorable and colorful vintage children’s geography guides (American Geographical Society Around the World Program) I scored while out thrifting with the super sweet Tania from Run to Radiance last week!
I’ll just leave this here to close out Thrift Score Thursday… We had a blast:
Go forth and thrift with good luck and good fortune!

Be sure to check out the finds & features from my cohost Trisha!
WOW those bookends were meant to be yours! i love them! and love the other finds as well- julia's globe is awesome!
Thank you Cassie! I agree – Julia's globe is amazing!
That typewriter and message is genius! Love it.
And thanks for including my globe, I love it so much
Anytime! That globe is such a crazy awesome find!
I kid you not, I have the same set of Around the World. My husband had them as a kid, and we have 8 sets of them. I just love their covers! That globe Julia scored is just awesome too!
They are such sweet books! Do yours have the little stamps inside? I'm tempted to sit down and have fun matching them up with their place in each book!
GIRL! Those bookends!! So cute!!!! I love those…and they pair perfectly with those books. I think we need to go back and buy those feather hat things 😉
Had so much fun hanging out! 🙂 See you soon friend!
We obviously need to buy them and wear them to the cocktail party as Haven!!! #geniusidea
Girl those bookends are fabulous! I think your persistence totally paid off in this case! I often wondered why they didn't 'clear package tape' pairs or even sets together. Although I am guilty of spying both and only needing one…
Wouldn't that be such a good idea? But too easy, lol! It's like they *want* to orphan sets of things 😛
They are so you! those bookends. Love all the fabulous things you find 🙂
Thank you Katja! 🙂
Amazing bookends! I love serendipitous finds!! And that GLOBE omg gorgeous – one lucky gal there 😀
So agree! She's so lucky! 🙂
I'm pretty sure if I found a brass roadrunner and then, the very next week, I found gingko bookends, I could just go ahead and die happy. LOVE!
Haha, Gretchen! Maybe I can now 🙂
Thanks for featuring my typewriter and my genius, lol. And my typo.
LOVE the bookends you found – so unusual!!
Anytime Tanya! 🙂
You're adorable and the best gather-er 🙂
Aw, thanks Amber! 🙂
