Kilim Pillow Store graciously provided me with vintage kilim pillow covers for today’s post. My thoughts and opinions are, as always, my own.
Did I just say spring?
Well, here we are a week and a half into February here in Texas, and it does feel like spring is on the way. We’ve had the most beautiful blue skies lately and crisp mornings with breezy afternoons and magical golden hours… If we could just keep this weather (and this angle of sunlight) forever, it would be bliss!
I recently revealed some major changes here in our house (laminate flooring that I installed myself!), and I’m excited to share some smaller changes, too. Getting to add everything back into each room from scratch prompted a little redecorating and rearranging and bringing in of new finds…
And today, I’m excited to share this situation in the library with you, because the last time I blogged about it, it was looking a little something like this:
And now, it’s looking a little something like this:
I have to say, I don’t know why I didn’t just put the tufted yellow sofa (a $100 Craigslist find!) in front of the bookcases in the first place! It’s so much better visually, and for the flow of the room!
I tucked the gold sofa table behind it, and while I’m a little sad that the pretty gilded legs aren’t visible, it works perfectly to bump the sofa out enough that you can access the books around it.
And Midna (our calico kitty) loves to sit up on the table and watch the world out the window.
You might have also noticed those beautiful new red kilim pillow covers on the sofa – with mustard scrolls and florals that make my heart beat faster!
When Kilim Pillow Store asked if I would be interested in using some of their beautiful pillow covers (made from vintage Anatolian kilim rugs) to style a post, I knew they would be perfect for this space!
Here, you can actually see one of the coolest features of the Kilim Pillow Store website – if you find one pillow you love, you can click a button inside the listing to shop other pillows cut from the same vintage kilim rug! They won’t be identical twins (I actually LOVE that they are both unique), but you can find pairs or more that coordinate beautifully.
(And if you love the ones I chose, this link will take you to the others from the same kilim!)
I even added one more from the same kilim to the living room – I’ll be sharing more details about the living room’s spring look soon, but I love that this pillow cover had a bit more of the black in it!
The pillow covers are beautiful sewn with a back zipper, and I was amazed at how quickly they arrived all the way from Istanbul, Turkey! And quite honestly, I was impressed with the prices and I think the shipping is very reasonable.

I always thrift down throw pillows from our local St. Vincent de Paul thrift store (which sells each and every pillow for 99 cents!), and I love zippered pillow covers because it’s so easy to change up your decor. Zip and unzip and store the extra pillow covers in the closet – no bulky pillow storage required!
I think Brad approves of the new pillows:
This off-centered Mid Century chrome mushroom lamp, made by Laurel, was a lucky recent Craigslist find. It was right down the street, and $15, so I basically jumped right into the car when I spotted it! I so rarely decorate with silver-toned metals, but I’m trying to branch out. I love the contrast between the fussy tufted velvet and the sleek modern lines of the lamp.
Xanthippe the zebra moved in here for now. Every time I share a picture with her, someone asks where I found her – she was the result of months of eBay searching and still a bit of a splurge at that!
This little pottery piece I found at the thrift store was just so funky, I had to bring it home – it’s an anatomical heart with eyes and a mouth, and I love it:
I moved the brass drum table into the living room, so this faux bamboo table came in here, with Bryan’s beloved chess set (from the talented naturalchess on Etsy).

Chairs: Ikea via Craigslist, with DIY stitched trim, tutorial here.
I’m still in love with these crazy leopard tables (a $40 Craigslist find) and the black and white punch they bring to this space. Although I’m always tempted to try them out in other rooms, I can’t bring myself to break up this party.
From this angle, the room definitely need some finishing touches, like curtains, art, etc…
But from this angle, I’m loving how all the colors and patterns play together!
This room is just my favorite space in the morning! It faces east, so it’s just completely bathed in soft morning sunlight and it’s a beautiful place to sit and drink my coffee.

White pillow with fringe: thrifted.
You guys know me and my love for weird finds. I enjoy sprinkling them throughout the bookshelves for friends to discover. This Mexican mask is inlaid with real turquoise, mother-of-pearl, and onyx – and I found it for $6 at Goodwill!

You can read about how I stripped spray paint from the deer head bookends here.
And that about does it for our little library tour today! I’m bursting with ideas for this space, from curtains to paint colors to art to trimming out the bookcases, but for now, I can’t tell you how much I’m enjoying finally having this space clean, happy, clutter-free, and full of things I love!
those pillows are SO perfect for your space!!! love them!
I’m a complete convert to the color red now! I can’t believe I didn’t really have or use any red before!
Love how the pillows look with Brad. 🙂 Also, the new furniture arrangement is so good.
Brad’s approval is, of course, the most important thing! Thank you Emy! <3
