March 8th, 2013, I resumed my Craigslist adventures. It’s been a while. I’ve been doubting myself. I still do a little… I love collecting awesome things, but there’s always that risk of “what if I buy something and I can’t resell it?”. It’s held me back a little, but this weekend, I found three things that made me pull the trigger and jump back into the game.
This mid-century couch may not look like much in a poor-quality, low-lit iPhone picture (don’t worry, apple didn’t pay me to say that), but it has these neat leather straps behind the back cushions and the vintage upholstery is in great condition – I’m so excited about it! I promise beauty shots in the future.
And these vintage tool cabinets that need a little bit of love, but are that worn old oak that I love so much. There are numbers chiseled into each drawer! They are actually pretty big – about 2 feet square. The red part is tape, so I’ll be able to get that cleaned up fairly easily. I promise, they will be beautiful. Maybe it’s encouraging to see these finds in their original state?
The last is a set of three metal flat map/blueprint files with just the right amount of wear/rust/patina for my taste. I’m looking forward to transforming each piece into a rolling coffee table, perhaps with a map on the top?
Lastly, when we stopped by the house on Friday, I snapped a picture of my wall-color-choosing-system-aftermath (bear in mind, these are just some of the paint chips!):
And apparently the house may be haunted? By a hashtag shaped ghost…?
