Raise your hand if you’ve been reading around here long enough to remember the good old “Gather This” series… Anyone? Long, long ago I used to share favorite finds from various sources, but somehow that series fell by the wayside. Well, I’m excited to revive it again today!
Sometimes when I’m researching a recent thrift find for Thrift Score Thursday, I’ll get sucked down the rabbit hole of awesome similar vintage finds on Etsy and just drool and pine over them all. Vintage globes? So many kinds, each so fabulous! Vintage popup books? I want them all!
So I decided that it was high time I revive the “Gather This” series on weeks when I find particularly inspiring things for Thrift Score Thursday. Perhaps you are interested in where you can purchase your own similar vintage find. Or maybe you just love vintage eye candy. Or enjoy learning about and studying cool vintage designs. Maybe you’ll see something cool in a “Gather This” collection and then recognize it later at a thrift store or in a family member’s home! These are just a few of my lofty ambitions. The vintage pieces I feature might be outside of my typical purchase price comfort zone, but sometimes it’s nice to just appreciate lovely things for lovely things’ sake, you know?
Yesterday I shared my recent Guzzini of Italy lucite pen and mail holder, so today’s theme is “vintage lucite desk accessories”. Goodness gracious, I just love the chunky shapes, mod lines and hard-candy-like appearance of these stunning pieces! Each item is linked to its Etsy listing – if you visit and it has sadly sold out, Etsy will likely recommend similar items so you can discover awesome new things.
1. Vintage Guzzini Lucite Desk Organizer via Mighty Vintage – The shape of this desk organizer is just incredible! Visit the link for more stunning pictures.
2. Vintage Lucite and Suede Desk Accessory via Yats Domino – Suggested use is to cradle glasses or a smart phone. I just love the juxtaposition of the suede and the lucite so much!
3. Lucite and Teak Desktop Pen Holder via Ripple & Plum – More delicious contrast!
4. Lucite Solid Cube Paperweight via L’Heure Bleue At Home – A solid chunk of lucite? Yes, just yes! Better than diamonds.
5. Guzzini Italian Lucite Owls via The Creekhouse – This design is so simple, but so elegant.
6. Vintage Lucite Desk Set via My Yiayia Had That – So shiny! Want!
7. Pair Mid Century Modern Lucite Bookends via The Papers
8. Modern Lucite Tape Dispenser via seventysixtyfifty – I am fairly certain that I need one of these. Mere mortal non-lucite tape dispensers can’t compare.
9. Vintage Telephone Address Directory via Migrations – I’ve never wanted a telephone directory so much!
10. Vintage Lucite Letter Holder/Organizer via Orbiting Debris
11. Ritts Astrolite Mid Century Lucite Bookends via secreteyesonly– I really really love these. Simple shape meets chunky lucite. I want to cuddle with them. If that’s wrong, I don’t want to be right.
I hope you enjoyed today’s new foray into Gather This! Don’t you just want to sprinkle lucite accessories all over your workspace now? Swoon!
I think it might be time for me to own some lucite! Gorgeous!
Raising my hand, I remember your gather this series and secretly hoped you'd resurrect it! Nothing better than learning from my favorite vintage researcher expert! And goodness gracious there are a lot of lucite styles out there. Reminds me of making acrylic pieces in tech-ed back in the day! My eye wandered to that leather cradle. Must have one of those in my life!
Who knows maybe I can put some of those dusty old skills to the test?! Ahh who am I kidding, it'd probably turn into a garbled ball of nothingness ha!
Oh wow – you simply must dust off those skills girl! I'd give anything to have the know-how to create something really awesome with acrylic!
Oh Oh, did you see The Shabby Creek Cottage sort of read our minds? She's playing around with plexiglass with her iPad Stand.
Yes, so genius!!!
I do this even for things I don't end up buying. It's a sickness that requires no cure. I definitely remember the series. I think I started following as it fizzled out though but I had gone back to catch up on others. I like that you've brought it back!
Yes, sometimes it's just nice to look at pretty things! I don't need to buy them – just know that they are out there being awesome 🙂
Great collection of lucite! I would want them all, too!
Thanks Kristen! Have a fantastic weekend!
Oh I've always wanted lucite everywhere but was never lucky enough to find it at the thriftstore. The only think lucite I found was my black globe 😉
Which was quite a find! I really haven't run across much at the thrift store either. Thank goodness for Etsy so I can at least admire even if I can't buy at the moment! 🙂
I love lucite desk accessories–I've been eyeing the (cheap!) file folders at Target for a while now! Love everything you chose here, especially #2 :).
#2 is just insane. I never thought plastic + leather could be such a killer combo!
Those accessories are to die for!!
