Like I promised in yesterday’s post of tips for shopping for the best vintage art, I’ve pulled together some of my favorite pieces I came across while browsing Etsy and Chairish, aka, “doing research.”
Okay, that sounds like a joke, but it really is my most valuable tip on how to find the best vintage things: always be training your eye! The more you read and browse and file away mentally, the more likely it is that you’ll spot and recognize treasures while you’re out and about!
That’s one of the reasons I’m SO excited for this ABC’s of Gathering inspiration series – it’s my hope that seeing the way others have incorporated vintage and gathered pieces into their decorating will give you tons of ideas for doing the same, as well as help you recognize the potential in the pieces you find!
As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, the most important thing to remember when you’re shopping for vintage art is to hone in on pieces that speak to you, so that’s what I did when curating today’s post. I may have played a little fast and loose with budgetary concerns, but the point of window-shopping isn’t to check price tags, right?
So let’s pretend that you and are out browsing together, cups of coffee in hand…
Today, these are the pieces that stop me in my tracks and pull me in for a closer look, the ones I make you inspect with me and hem and haw over how and where to display them.
Maybe the ones that speak to me don’t all speak to you, but that’s expected of course. Friends are wonderful counterpoints and sounding boards, so let’s window shop and learn from each other…

We stop for some pastries and a coffee refill, after our little art gathering expedition, and catch up on our impressions.
I’m feeling bold colors and messy brushstrokes lately, and a few oddball, dreamlike subjects… I can’t get that girl with the falling rocks out of my mind, I’m so obsessed with that piece, as well as that eyeball + pearls painting. But let’s not forget about that darling little yellow Victorian house, so full of color with its blue roof and pink curtains. I might very well need that one in my life!
What about you? What called out to you the most? Any favorites, loves, must-haves, essentials-for-existence?

i love portraits! the girl with the pink chair is my favorite!
I love that one too! It’s definitely very “Cassie”! 🙂
So many great pieces and tips. I love the Girl With Pink Chair
Agreed – such a beautiful piece!
Love how you set up the scene like we’re a couple of friends, drinking coffee and browsing stores! Sounds like my kind of day. Love a lot of these arts, too!
