I really like the chairs in this set! They are similar to a chair design by Milo Baughman, but the x-bases also remind me of the effortless ease of Mies van der Rohe’s Barcelona chair. Seriously –tufting and a shiny metal? You know I love it. And I’m a super big fan of the tucked over buttoned detailing on the back.
What I’m not a huge fan of is the way the color of the pleather upholstery doesn’t go with the laminate tabletop. It’s not hugely apparent in these photos, but the upholstery is more chocolate brown, while the tabletop has a lot more red in it. I also just don’t think the table is that cute personally – it’s a little too vintage diner-y for me. I think the chairs are much more sophisticated on their own. However, it’s obvious that they are a set, so that’s how I’ve listed them.
How fabulous would these chairs be reupholstered in some kind of dark, nubby linen? Black, maybe? Or velvet? The correct answer is: TOO FABULOUS. If you got that one wrong, you should probably deeply reevaluate your taste in home décor. Nah, just kidding. Ask Bryan – he’ll tell you how tolerant I am of people who disagree with me 😉
How can you resist those chairs? If you want to marry them, I won’t judge you. I’m no stranger to the world of vintage-furniture-polygamy [last paragraph].
(Also, check out the mess where my newly-painted dining room ceiling meets the still-pukey-green walls. So close. So close to being able to paint all the walls).
What do you think? Pretty cute, huh?
Yes I totally agree on the fabric! What awesome chairs! You always have the best finds.

Thank you! I wish I had the know-how, time, and energy to execute my vision! I'll have to leave it up to someone else, though.
