DIY Black & Copper Hello Sign

August 14, 2015 by Brynne 14 Comments

Did you guys happen to notice a friendly new addition in the background of Monday’s post?

Vintage Beetle Scientific Illustration Pillows 9

You might remember all the way back in February when I painted the banister black and went over a few ideas for art to hang on that wall. Nothing felt quite right, so I just decided to wait it out until the perfect inspiration struck.

I was browsing through some of my favorite pins on Pinterest one day and this pin stopped me in my tracks – I loved the idea of spelling out a word on the wall using copper pipe connections. Then, I remembered this DIY sconce project from Mandi at Vintage Revivals, where she used wooden dowels painted black instead of copper pipe, and it all fell into place.

I love the contrast between the black and copper, and using wood dowels instead of copper helped keep this project very affordable!

While not exactly a ground-breaking word to spell out on the wall, “Hello” felt perfect for my little entry area, which isn’t all that defined from the rest of the living room. Plus, it includes only letters that can be spelled using 90 degree angles!

Super cute!! I love the “hello”! We had some gold letters that said the same thing in our living room in the last house. I think it’s the perfect touch for welcoming people in! <3

I love it! (sorry for being a little behind). I made our side table frames out of copper pipe and joints and have been waiting to find another project to use the materials again – I think I like the painted dowelling even more than the pipe however! Hello from the UK 🙂

Thank you so much, Lucy! Your side tables sound amazing – I just love creating with copper pieces! I can imagine so many color possibilities with the painted dowelling too!
