So you got to see a corner of the new living room wall color in my DIY Vintage Tripod Lamp post, and I’m here today to show you more pictures! Yay! See ‘before’ pictures of the living room here – Currently: The Living Room.
The funny thing is that living room is looking so much less decorated now, given the sale of the brass trunk we were using as an interim-tv-stand and the fact that the walls are so obviously bare now that they are white.
But I love it! It’s the perfect blank slate! Those who know me well might be surprised that I didn’t choose something more saturated… I tend to be “more is more” when it comes to color 😉 I hadn’t imagined choosing white paint when we first bought the house, but it’s exactly what this dark room needed. The color is “Picket Fence” by Martha Stewart mixed in, of course, my favorite America’s Finest flat paint. ($53 for a five-gallon bucket vs. $150 for Behr.) Picket Fence has just a hint of warmth to it, especially contrasted with the pure white trim (Behr’s Ultra Pure White semigloss) and the cooler white of the ceiling paint (America’s Finest ceiling paint).
I love feeling like I’m in a bright white box! Here you can see those perfect, smooth ceilings:
Next up – fabulous curtains for that big window!
And oh – what’s that? A little sneak peek… My front door makeover is coming soon to a computer screen near you!
This room has certainly changed quite a bit in just a little over a week!
So what do you think? Do you like the new look?
I love the change! I couldn't believe how much bigger and more inviting the room looked after being painted…and it doesn't look "institutional".
Yay! Thank you 🙂 I'm always amazed at what a little paint and labor can do!
I love white wall! Totally do.
Yay 🙂 I'm pretty excited about it too!
oh i love that chesterfield!
*Sigh* the chesterfield – love of my life! You can read my humorous story of its acquisition here: Found: Vintage Leather Chesterfield.
The white makes your very individual furniture stand out … Looking good!
Haha, love the "very individual" part – I feel very complimented 🙂 I think the white will keep it all sane!
Lovely! But then, white is my favorite color… 🙂
It really compliments the amazing chesterfield.
Christina, thank you so much! 🙂
