I fit a dining room table with a leaf, 2 captains chairs and 4 side chairs in my minivan with my 2 year old along for the ride. It was a long drive to get there and the previous owner was helping me load them up. He said I would have to make 2 trips to get them home and I said no way, I'm not driving all the way out here again! It was like furniture Tetris but I fit them all in and he was impressed lol. Now that summer is here I have 3 kids along for pick ups but I just research something fun to do close to where I'm picking up items and we make a day of it. Earlier this week I scored a king size brass headboard for $35 and it travelled home between my 2 kids in the back who thought it was funny cuz they were in "jail" (looking at each other through the headboard bars). The stories my kids could tell lol.

Shame on that van manufacturer for not thinking of the lost Craigslist hauling potential, lol! But I agree - I'm always amazed at how much a minivan will hold!

Red tinsel! Brilliant!
I'm going to have to add a note about flags in the post - I know it's the same here in Texas.

That flag idea is a great call - it always pays to be prepared! We'll just have to keep the duct tape between us as our little secret, haha! (But maybe stash a roll just in case?) ;)

It's funny--we actually have a full size van, but it's not terribly useful for hauling furniture because the seats don't come out/fold down. My minivan will hold a surprising amount of stuff once you remove and/or fold down seats, though. We fit the sectional sofa we just bought in there no problem. If we can't fit something in there, we borrow my mom's van. We used to have friends down the street with a truck, but they selfishly moved to Texas last month ;)

I've moved things in all sorts of ways. When I was little it was just me and my mum and we were having to move furniture including garden bench and white goods in a Volkswagen Polo. In the UK you have to flag items if they hang outside the vehicle with something red. We once used skipping rope to tie something in and red tinsel to flag it!
