Hi Beth,
The gold leaf was in sheets, although at the time, the leaf I used broke into pieces really easily – when that happened, I just used the smaller pieces to fill in any gaps. I’ve since discovered Mona Lisa brand “Simple Leaf” where the gold leaf is attached to the paper backing (see it in in this post here), and that makes it so much simpler to lay the gold leaf down in sheets!
